Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Birchills Church of England Community Academy. We are a vibrant and inclusive academy serving a wonderfully diverse community in the heart of Walsall. Whether you are a prospective parent, a member of our local community, or simply curious to learn more about us, we hope our website gives you a flavour of life at Birchills — but the best way to experience it is to visit us in person, where you will always receive a warm welcome.

At Birchills, we believe every child is unique and has something special to offer. Our aim is to provide an inspiring education that nurtures curiosity, creativity and confidence, enabling each child to flourish both academically and personally. We are incredibly proud of our modern facilities, including well-resourced classrooms, dedicated learning areas and outdoor spaces that enrich every child’s experience.

As a Church of England academy, our Christian values of Respect, Friendship, Service, Justice, Perseverance and Forgiveness are at the heart of everything we do. They guide our relationships, shape our curriculum, and help our children grow into kind, resilient and responsible individuals.

We are part of St Chad’s Academies Trust, and work in partnership to ensure that all our pupils receive the highest quality education. Visitors often comment on the warm, family atmosphere at Birchills — a place where children feel safe, happy and valued.

We are immensely proud of our pupils, staff and community, and warmly invite you to visit us to see first-hand what makes Birchills Church of England Primary Academy such a special place to learn and grow.

'Warm relationships between staff and pupils are at the centre of this caring school.Strong links between the local community and school help promote the sense of tolerance and respect for all.'

'A well-planned curriculum and purposeful learning opportunities provide the youngest children with a strong start. Well-trained staff support children in the key areas of learning within early reading, writing and mathematics. Routines are quickly established. Children form positive relationships.'

Ofsted 2022

'Birchills stands as a beacon within its community. Pupils behave beautifully. Leaders and staff show great care and kindness. They also set the highest expectations for pupils’ learning. From this secure base of care and challenge, all pupils flourish and fly.'

'Leaders are true believers in demanding the best for, and of, pupils. They say, and they are, ‘The voice for those pupils who don’t have one.’ This includes pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Leaders and staff take the time to really know and understand the specific needs of pupils. '
