Vision and Values
Our Vision
“With God all things are possible. We are all God’s children.”
(Matthew 19:26)
At Birchills Church of England Community Academy, we believe every child is special and full of potential.
Rooted in our Christian faith, we aim to be a place of hope, love and possibility, where every child feels valued, nurtured and inspired to achieve their best.
We welcome everyone – of all faiths and none – to learn, grow and flourish together, knowing that truly, with God all things are possible.
Our Values
Our six core Christian values are the heartbeat of Birchills life.
They guide our learning, shape our relationships and inspire how we serve our community.
Each half term, we focus on one value through collective worship, classroom learning and real-life action.
Respect | Friendship | Forgiveness | Perseverance | Justice | Service
Autumn 1 – Respect
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12)
We believe that everyone is made in God’s image and deserves to be treated with kindness and dignity.
At Birchills, we show respect by listening carefully, valuing others’ opinions and celebrating our differences.
We learn that self-respect also matters — caring for our bodies, using our talents wisely and taking pride in who God made us to be.
Autumn 2 – Friendship
“Encourage one another and build each other up.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Friendship helps us to feel loved, included and supported.
We follow Jesus’ example of being a true friend — welcoming others, showing empathy and sharing joy.
Through friendship, we learn to work together, forgive easily and build a community where everyone belongs.
Spring 1 – Forgiveness
“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13)
Forgiveness brings peace and helps us start again.
We teach children that saying sorry and forgiving others shows strength, not weakness.
By reflecting on God’s endless forgiveness for us, we learn to let go of anger and rebuild relationships with kindness and understanding.
Spring 2 – Perseverance
“God will direct you; you will endure.” (Exodus 18:23)
Perseverance means not giving up when things are difficult.
At Birchills, we encourage resilience, courage and hope — trusting that with God’s help, we can overcome challenges.
We celebrate effort as well as success and remind each other that every small step forward counts.
Summer 1 – Justice
“Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.” (Amos 5:24)
Justice means treating everyone fairly and standing up for what is right.
We learn that true justice is rooted in love and compassion, and that we all have a part to play in creating a fair and caring world.
At Birchills, we encourage children to speak up for others, make kind choices and show respect for the needs of every person.
Summer 2 – Service
“Serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13)
Service is at the heart of Jesus’ teaching.
We show this by helping others, using our time and talents for good and putting others before ourselves.
Through acts of kindness, generosity and care, we learn that by serving others, we also serve God — and discover true joy and freedom in doing so.
